Cumberland County Library System Implements Auto Renewal

On a trial basis, Cumberland County Library System is implementing the automatic renewal* of eligible items reaching their due dates. This will apply to all new check-outs as of November 1.

Here’s what you should know about this upcoming feature:

  • If you have an email address on your library card account, you’ll receive an email with the subject Due Date Reminder advising you of any items that automatically renewed as well as any items that remain due in two days.
    • NOTE: You are receiving this because you DO have an email address on your library card account!
  • If an item is automatically renewed, it will show as Renewed on the notice and on your account.
  • The item will renew from the original due date. You won't lose any time with the item.
  • You can edit the email address to your account online, or by visiting your library. Notices are a courtesy, so always check your account status at the library or online to see what’s due for return.

*Some items checked out after November 1 are not eligible for automatic renewal. Reasons include, but are not limited to, items with requests for other cardholders, items that have been renewed three times already, and items on an account that is now suspended. Those items will continue to show as due on your account and must be returned.

During this trial, a satisfaction survey will be at the top of every Due Date Reminder. As you experience automatic renewal, you are encouraged to provide feedback on this service. This is a trial and we will use your feedback and other data as we consider its continuation.
