June School Board Meeting Calls for Tax Increase

A unanimous vote allowed for the adoption of the final budget for the 2022-2023 school year.

Board member, Dr. Peter Patitsas, said “the budget reflects our values.”

The adopted budget calls for a tax increase to residents of the school district. This is the board’s latest statement:

”On June 9, 2022, the East Pennsboro Board of School Directors adopted the budget for the fiscal year beginning on July 1, 2022. Directors and administrators worked together for several months to prepare a budget that maintains high-quality educational programs and facilities. As a result of their efforts, the $51.3 million budget calls for a real estate tax mill rate of 13.6180, or a 4.2 percent tax increase. The median assessed home in East Pennsboro Township is $177,220, which translates to a $86 annual tax increase for the homeowner.”
